Northminster has a vibrant music program, making use of organized musical groups within the church, as well as other talented musicians in our midst. Opportunities for musical participation are available to people of all ages; over 50 people participate in Northminster's music program on a regular basis.
The Chancel Choir provides primary music leadership for worship at Northminster. The Choir is made up of 20+ adults, and provides music at worship every Sunday morning, and at other special services throughout the church year.
No audition is necessary to sing in the Chancel Choir, but an ability to sing well and follow direction is essential. If you'd like to sing with us, just come to any rehearsal.
Rehearsals are every Thursday in the Choir Room from 7:30-9:00 PM.
The Chancel Choir serves as music leader from September through June. During the summer months, special music is provided by individuals and groups who wish to provide that musical leadership for one Sunday.
Our Summer Music offerings have included vocal soloists, small instrumental ensembles, keyboardists, our handbell choirs, and our Early Music Singers. Once or twice a summer we will put together a pick-up choir, consisting of whoever arrives that morning to sing. They will then present music appropriate to the skill level of those who gather. Pick-up choirs often include some of our children, allowing a group of all ages to sing together.
We welcome folks to participate in our summer music program. If you'd like to participate, you can call the church office starting in early June to see where you might fit in.
