Children at Northminster

Northminster has an active ministry for the large body of children in our midst. We currently have over 40 children betwen the ages of 1 and 17 in our church family, and we work hard to make them feel a complete part of the church.

Christian Education

Northminster provides nursery care and a preschool class all year long supervised by paid staff. During the school year, we offer Sunday morning Christian Education for children aged 4 through middle school:

We use the "Whole People of God" curriculum, which is based on the lectionary Scripture readings used in worship.

During the summer, church school is offered for children through 2nd grade. Older children are invited to participate in worship.

Children's Activities

Apart from Christian Education, Northminster also provides other opportunities for our children to participate in the life of the church.

Children's Choir

Under the direction of Janelle Walhout, one of our talented young parents, the Children's Choir meets throughout the church year to rehearse and present musical offerings as part of our music ministry. During the Christmas season, the Children''s Choir also serves as the core of our annual Christmas Pageant.

Minneringers

The Minneringers, Northminster's children's handbell choir, participates in worship several times during the church year. Directed by long-time ringer Jennifer Jensen Juncker, this talented group provide special music for Sunday morning worship and other special services throughout the year.

Youth Group

Led by Associate Pastor Karen Breckenridge, with the assistance of other dedicated folks, the Youth Group provides a place for the older children in our midst. The youth help us to lead worship on a regular basis, and take an active role in Northminster's outreach program, particularly in the Ballard Ecumenical Homeless Ministry, of which we are a part.
